This year, the first night of Hanukkah will coincide with Christmas eve, and because we celebrate Hanukkah for eight nights, the last candle will be lit on New years eve. This means that 2016 will end in light and 2017 will start with light.

As big believers in synchronicity, our design team went ahead and made sure you (and we!) could celebrate with style and humor by creating the Oy Deer Menorah. And just to be sure you’re surrounded by eye candy this holiday, we also made  green and red dreidel bunting.

How we celebrate Hannukah at Alef objects:

We love to party – and our annual Hanukkah (נגהפ) party is by far our biggest and favorite event.
(Saturday December 24 at 20:00 if you happen to be around Tel-Aviv that night!)
Here’s a sneak peak at our party preparations:
Sangria is not traditionally associated with Jewish holidays, but we think it should be!
All you need is a bottle of red wine, some winter fruit (we use apples, oranges or pears) sliced and diced, a generous squeeze of lemon juice and a dash of lemon zest. Add half a cup of brown sugar (or more if you like it sweet) a couple of cinnamon sticks and star anise. Mix everything together in a medium size pot – just until the sugar dissolves.
And the best part? serving and drinking from our very own alefbet paper cups.
We tried making sufganiyot last year- too messy! But we do customize them to fit our letter loving souls. This is what we did last year, and here you can get your own ALEF Sofganiya printable!:)

After we light the candles we try not to gamble away our Mom’s car during a wild dreidel game, whoever wins gets to eat another sufganiya.

Have a Merry Hannukah and A happy jew-year!
